ERICKSON, Mary Margaret, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on December 18, 2018 in Flower Mound, Texas. Mary was born October 1, 1929 in St. Peter, Minnesota to Warren Osborne and Barbara Alice Seewald Osborne. She attended St. Peter schools and was a 1947 graduate of St. Peter High School as the Class Valedictorian. After graduation, she decided to follow in her mother’s footsteps and attended Teacher’s College and began teaching elementary school in Tyler, MN. It was during this time she met her beloved husband, Walter. Walt and Mary were married on June 18, 1951 following receipt of Walt’s orders to report to the Air Force during the Korean War. They were stationed in Illinois, Fort Worth, Texas, and Roswell, New Mexico. After Walt’s honorable discharge in 1955, they returned to Dallas, where they raised four children. She loved gardening, working crossword puzzles, sewing, and traveling. As her children grew older, she decided to obtain her Bachelor’s degree from North Texas State University. Her love and passion for children led her to teaching at Mary Immaculate Catholic School until her retirement in 2010. She was proud to have taught multi generations of families and often encountered former students wherever she went. Her love of learning continued after her retirement and Mary took classes at Brookhaven College and also learned and loved to play Mahjong. She enjoyed making new friends and finishing the New York Times Sunday crossword puzzle. She is survived by her brother Joe Osborne, her children Barbara Aman and husband Charles; Donna Mixon and husband Mike; Debbie Williams and husband Rocky; and her daughter-in-law Billie Rae Erickson. She is also survived by her grandchildren Melanie Villarreal, Heather Lanz, Lara Fernandes, Michael, Amanda, Ryan Mixon, and Brendon Williams. Six great-grandchildren were blessed to know and love her. She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband of 53 years Walter Erickson, her son David Erickson, grandson Chad Mixon, granddaughter Mallory Kate Mixon, and great-grandson Hendrix Ray Locker. Rosary services will be held at Mary Immaculate Catholic Church in Farmers Branch, Texas on Friday, December 21, 2018 at 10:00 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Michael Forge at 10:30 AM. Private entombment to follow at Calvary Hill Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mary’s favorite charity, Habitat for Humanity.
