Margaret Louise Young, age 93, passed away peacefully on the morning of Sunday, June 25, 2017 at Richardson Methodist Hospital after a short illness. Born on June 9, 1924, in Bridgeport, CT, Margaret moved with her family to Fairfield, CT to attend high school. After attending the University of Pennsylvania to pursue a career as a dental hygienist. Margaret moved to Texas in 1948 with her husband, Herbert George Young, who worked for Chance Vought, which later became LTV.
Margaret loved gardening, cooking and needle arts. She was an avid conqueror of puzzles from intricate 1,000-piece works of art to the New York Times crossword puzzle. She never met a Jeopardy question or Wheel of Fortune game she couldn’t beat. Margaret also loved playing the piano and was a proud member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church Bell Choir.
A decades-long Texas Rangers baseball fan, she loved watching the games and, thankfully, she was finally able to cheer them on to the World Series in 2010 after years of heartache.
A devoted, long-time member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, Margaret is survived by her two sons, Robert Alan Young, Houston, TX, with daughter-in-law, Cheryl Crain Young and William Richard Young, Dallas, TX, with daughter-in-law, Kimberly Palmer Young. Margaret had two grandchildren, Melissa Young McAlpin and Ryan Young who both reside with their families in Houston. She had two great-grandchildren and three step great-grandchildren.
Margaret is preceded in death by her parents, Elwyn Eugene Hyde and Gertrude Caroline Montgomery of Williamstown, MA ,and her husband, Herbert George Young, who passed in 2002.
Memorial service will be Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at 10:00am at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 8200 Devonshire Drive, Dallas, TX 75209.
