John Anthony Kalchbrenner was born in Chicago, Illinois, on August 7, 1946, to Julius Kalchbrenner and Pauline Skoda Kalchbrenner. He graduated from Leo High School in Chicago in 1964. Serving with honor, he dedicated four years to the United States Air Force from 1964 to 1968, later achieving his degree from the University of Nebraska at Omaha in 1977. In the 1980s, he followed his sister Linda to Texas, setting the stage for a new chapter in his life.
In 1992, John met the love of his life, Ann. They exchanged vows on October 15, 1994, and shared a beautiful journey together until her passing in 2018.
John's professional journey included a fulfilling career as an accountant for Ralcorp Frozen Bakery Products, where his dedication left a lasting impact. Beyond his professional pursuits, John found joy in cheering for his favorite Chicago sports teams, with a special place in his heart for the Blackhawks. A devout Catholic, he actively participated in various groups at St. Catherine of Siena in Carrollton for many years.
John is preceded in death by his loving wife Ann, his father Julius, mother Pauline, and sister Linda Ott. He is also reunited with countless fur babies who brought him immense joy.
John is survived by his "bonus daughter," Heather Edwards, son-in-law Michael Edwards, grandchildren Sgt. Jonah Edwards USMC, Jasmine Edwards, Adisyn Edwards, and Bella Edwards, along with his great-granddaughter Aurora Edwards. He is also fondly remembered by nephews Jason Ott and Douglas Ott, his dear Aunt Irma Heyer of Chicago, and numerous other cherished family members and friends.
A Funeral Mass for John will be held at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church on Friday, January 5, 2023 at 11:00am. Interment will be set at a later date.
