Jim was born in Liberal, Kansas on 6-4-1935 to James Elwood, SR and Agnes Hill. He graduated from Plains high school and furthered his education at the Oklahoma A&M College. Jim was married Mary Lee Hill on October 13, 1960, they were married for 64 years.
Jim entered the US Air Force August 1954 at age 19, he proudly served his country for 24 years. His career in the Air Force took his family to the Philippines & to Germany, and they visited many other countries along the way. He was actively involved in the Masonic Lodge, March of Dimes, Shriners, Knights of the Round Table and was director of the Valley Boy Scout Council. Once he retired in San Angelo, TX he was elected as the County Commissioner of Tom Green County. He also enjoyed fishing and traveling all over the US in their RV.
Jim is preceded in death by his father, Elwood and his mother, Agnes.
Jim is survived by his spouse, Mary, his son John, daughter in-law Celia, brothers Jerry & Bob and other family and friends.
A celebration for Jim is scheduled for March 30, 2024, at 10:00 AM at The Overture located at 4140 Legendary Dr., Frisco, Texas 75034.
