Hugo was the only child of Olga and Marcos Felan, born in Saltillo, Coahuila September 15, 1949. In his early years, he lived in Durango, MX, followed by Acuña, Coahuila, where he then met the love of his life, Esperanza Cerna. Married and together for 36 years, they built a beautiful legacy centered around their four amazing children.
Hugo worked at EDM for over 25 years where he held a central role in the operations department. Upon retirement he thoroughly enjoyed spending his time going to the Senior Center playing dominoes and socializing with his friends.
In 2015, Hugo received the transformative call that he was going to be blessed with the gift of a new kidney. By the grace of God and the remarkable team of medical professionals at UTSW, he underwent a successful kidney transplant which gifted him 9 more beautiful years of life.
Hugo cherished family above all else. He found joy in family gatherings whether watching his beloved San Francisco 49ers or New York Yankees. He was also a phenomenal cook. He had a deep appreciation for music and enjoyed listening to Vicente Fernandez. Hugo was also an avid bird watcher and throughout his life he had a keen passion for parakeets and parrots.
Hugo is survived by his former wife Esperanza Felan, and their 4 children, Hugo Jr. (Jessica) Felan, Jorge ( Marcia) Felan, Edward (Maria) Felan and Laura (Kirt) Linington. He was a proud and doting Abu to his 8 grandchildren. JJ, Edward Jr, Isaac, Julius, Daniella, Elijah, Moses, and Izaiah Felan.
Hugo leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter and wonderful memories. His unconditional love, devotion and immense pride for his family will be felt forever. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A viewing will be held at Rhoton Funeral Home Tuesday September 3, 2024 7-9pm and Wednesday September 4, 2024 from 7-9pm. Family, friends and all who knew Hugo are invited to celebrate his life and legacy.
