Helen Emily Cantrell, 78, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister passed away Monday April 8, 2013. She was the daughter of Gerhard Hinrichs and Norma Maass Hinrichs and was born at home in Tom Green County Texas.
A 1951 graduate of San Angelo High School, Helen was a quiet devoted, loving and caring woman who enjoyed and appreciated the simple things in life. She was a long time member of Valley View Baptist Church and although unable to attend in recent years due to health issues, she enjoyed going to Church and Sunday school. She was a gifted seamstress and ‘multi-tasker’ long before the word was common in raising and taking care of her family. Helen’s interests included sewing, quilting, crocheting, embroidery, square dancing, animals, flowers, plants, dolls and feeding her backyard birds and squirrels.
She was always helping and thinking of others no matter what her own issues were. Helen struggled with various health issues for many years, but was a strong determined and independent person who adapted to many obstacles. Her family appreciated her, will dearly miss her and will always love her.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents Gerhard and Norma Hinrichs, her first husband Alfred Coffey in 1967, and George T. Cantrell in 2010, her loving husband of 39 years. Survivors include daughters Beverly Davidson and husband Keith, Lisa Lamb and husband Ron Carradine, 1 son Al Cantrell, 1 step daughter, Nell Gafford and husband Ron, 2 step sons, Russell Cantrell and wife Cristiana and Dwight Cantrell.
