Frederick James Moss III (Jim) was born on November 7, 1951, at Florence Nightingale Hospital in Dallas, Texas. He bravely and quietly lived with multiple health problems and died suddenly on April 13, 2024.
Jim was the first-born son of Fred and Annette Moss who preceded him in death. He grew up in the Lake Highlands area and ultimately settled in Carrollton, Texas. He graduated from Lake Highlands High School and then attended classes at UT Arlington, Eastland and SMU. Ultimately he studied photography and film development leading to a career in photography and color processing. He owned Total Color where he processed film and made prints for professional photographers throughout the area. He sold the company and continued to work in the area of film processing until he struck out as an independent photographer. He formed his own company - Jim Moss DFW Photography specializing in residential and commercial photography. Jim saw the world through his camera lens and thoroughly enjoyed taking pictures of all that he experienced. He was always the man behind the camera. Music was one of his greatest pleasures. In 7th grade, he started a garage band called The Unknowns playing bass guitar, and continued his love of playing bass in the worship band in his church. He could be found on Sunday afternoon watching NASCAR - always wearing his Dale Earnhardt cap and shirt. Collecting memorabilia everywhere he went was another passion. He developed a great interest in WWII planes and enjoyed sharing that interest with his son, Eric. Jim loved all things planes, trains, and automobiles, and especially sailboats. His thoughtful perspective was a blessing to all who knew him. He most especially loved his family.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years Debbie Trimble Moss and his son Eric James Moss (wife Robin Casella Moss) of The Colony, Texas, and his daughter Shelley Moss Russell (husband Ryan Louis Russell) of Salt Lake City, Utah, his precious, one and only grandson, Maxwell James Casella Moss of The Colony, and his sister Dr. Michele Moss of Little Rock, Arkansas. He is also survived by his cousin Sara Lorraine Willbern of Denton, Texas, and his brother-in-law Fredrick H. Trimble (wife Debbie Trimble) of Plano, Texas. He is seriously missed by his beloved dog, Muffy.
The family wishes to thank lifelong friends, Jim and Ellen Deppe for all of their help and support during this difficult loss. We also thank the myriad of friends for their love, prayers, and nourishment.
