Carol was born March 12, 1961 and grew up in Windthorst, TX. She was the fifth of sixteen children born to Albert and Adeline Ostermann.
After high school, Carol graduated from the University of Dallas (BA Education, 1983), and married Tim Dougherty, a UD classmate, in 1985. They settled in Carrollton where they were parishioners of Mary Immaculate Catholic Church in Farmers Branch. Carol was a loving mother to their four children and enjoyed helping at Mary Immaculate School events, assisting in the MIS library for many years, and helping organize Vacation Bible School.
At Mary Immaculate Church, Carol and Tim were an engaged sponsor couple and served as catechists. Carol helped care for altar linens, assisted with funeral meals, and enjoyed a weekly scripture study. She also enjoyed being a member of Catholic Daughters Court Our Lady.
Carol taught preschool for over 25 years at Christ 4 Kids preschool and at Holy Covenant preschool, and touched the lives of many children in the community. She helped organize many Girl Scout Day Camps and was a board member of the Friends of Furneaux Creek Nature Trail. She was involved for many years with the Rebekah Leah Rivera Foundation annual auction.
Carol is preceded in death by her father Albert, her sister Ann, and a baby brother. She is survived by Tim and their children Joseph, Sarah (Sean) Dalecki, Julia, and Claire (Chris) Skupien. She loved being “Lolly” to their four grandchildren: Elles, Archer, Washington, and Phoebe Dalecki. She is survived by her mother Adeline Ostermann, and siblings: Theresa Davis, Albert, Charles, Stephen, Ralph, Mary Dougherty, Judith Jacob, Joann Kitchens, David, Cathy Cromer, Thomas, Nancy Speelman, and Louis – as well as numerous in-laws and nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved very much.
We will miss Carol’s radiant smile and laughter she brought to family gatherings. She loved baking Christmas cookies, having backyard picnics with neighbors, and relaxing with her friends and family. She never tired of spending time with children, especially her grandchildren and her preschool students.
Carol’s family is deeply appreciative of all the support and prayers they received during Carol’s illness. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Catholic Charities.
