Memorial services for Betty Jean Byrum, 82, of Farmers Branch, TX are scheduled for 10:00 am on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at Rhoton Funeral Home in Carrollton, TX. Visitation will be from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, March 6 at Rhoton Funeral Home. Graveside services will be at 2:00 pm at Carroll Springs Cemetery near Athens, TX.
Betty went to be with the Lord on March 3, 2017.
She was born in Athens on June 7, 1934 to the late Martin Patrick Staines and Edna Mae Cummings Staines. The sixth of nine siblings, she grew up in Athens, attended Stephen F. Austin University, and moved to the Dallas area in the early 1950s. She married Bobby Gene Byrum of Emory, TX on November 19, 1955. She worked for the University of Texas Medical Center for 25+ years and retired in 1989. Her main passion was her family and friends, coupled with her love for football, board games, and video poker. She is remembered for her kindness and generosity to all.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Bobby Byrum, and her siblings, Sherman Staines, Martin Staines Jr., Shirley Welch, Velma Coleman, Laverne Roy, and Marie Pierce.
She is survived by her sisters, Linda Ammons of Farmers Branch and Ollie Cooper of Palestine, TX, her daughters, Shelly Daniels and husband Cary of Lake Dallas, TX and Shannon Keuer and husband Michael of Corinth, TX, and her grandchildren, Cary S. Daniels of Lake Dallas, Bridget Carlson of Harker Heights, TX, and Garrett and Samantha Keuer of Corinth.
