Richard Wayne Adams was born on 05/06/1953 in Shelbyville, Indiana. Everyone knew him as “Ric” being the oldest of five children in the family. Starting at a young age, Ric developed a strong relationship with Jehovah God and a desire to serve him. He was baptized on August 14th, 1967 when he was 13 years of age, attending meetings at the Knightstown congregation. Ric began sharing God’s word from door to door as a pioneer at age 16. Also throughout his youth he often assisted his mother feeding his large family and developed a love of cooking for others starting at age 10.
After high school, Ric had attended Ivy Tech in Indianapolis to become a Respiratory Therapist working in Rushville and Batesville hospitals of Indiana. He was always famous for his peanut butter fudge recipe that the nursing staff and doctors devoured. Ric had such a hospitable personality and desired to advance his education in healthcare and business even further attending Indiana Wesleyan University to receive his MBA. When Ric was living in Crown Point, Indiana he held Regional Director position for Nova Care, Inc. developing his skills in speaking, teaching and in leadership. One of his many acquaintances through work in Indianapolis was Martha Allaben who became his wife of 30 years. Advancement was eminent within the company due to Ric’s devotion to people moving to Milwaukee, Wisconsin to work for Polaris visiting his 30 regional directors to Unicare Nursing facilities throughout the United States. Ric became so fond of traveling, flying from coast to coast in his healthcare career, which afforded him to appreciate various regional cultures. No acquaintance in his travels remained a stranger, Ric often sharing the kingdom message.
After a sudden change in the healthcare industry, Ric chose to devote himself in teaching the bible to others daily as a fulltime pioneer including a temporary assignment with his wife in Kentucky and in Guyana South America. Ric and his wife also had the opportunity to visit South Africa as delegates to an international convention, meeting friends from all over the world. Ric and Martha enjoyed sharing their travels with friends inviting many other couples to join them on their adventures.
Ric was a person that never sat idle. After his retirement, he ventured into learning new skills such as gardening and becoming a Master Gardener from Purdue University, even creating a 15 x 30 garden in the neighbor’s yard. The promise of produce, especially tomatoes, would be shared. He even taught himself from YOU TUBE how to can vegetables. Ric gave of himself in so many ways whether it was his bible wisdom, practical advice, a meal at his home or just a Ball jar of soup or canned vegetables to take home with you. You never left empty handed.
After a lengthy battle with heart disease, Ric fell asleep in death confident that Jehovah will remember him.
Ric is survived by his beloved wife, Martha Adams; daughter, Danyelle (Shawn) Weber; siblings, John (Joyce) Thompson, Diana Custer, Tina Godwin, and Yozette (Jim) Garski; brothers-in-law, Greg (Linda) Allaben, John (Ann) Allaben and David Allaben; nieces & nephew, McKenzie (Bayu) Irjanto, Haley Allaben, Hannah Allaben, Laura Allaben, Sarah (Shane) Clouse, Jason Allaben, Heather (Jonathan) Garloch, August (Dan) Herbert, Catherine (Don) Ervine and Tara Thompson.
