Katherine Lee Powell

Katherine was a graduate of Williamston High School (1953) and received a BA from Michigan State University (1957) with certifications in medical technology. She worked professionally with hospitals in Lansing, MI, Columbus, OH, & Louisville, KY. Katherine married Fredric Powell on December 22, 1956. She later left her profession to start a family and raise her children. Later on, she was a customer service representative for Sears Roebuck in New York.

She enjoyed gourmet cooking, was proficient in sewing and embroidery, enjoyed reading, and was a trained classical pianist. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and sitting beside Torch Lake listening to the lapping of the waves on the water. Katherine will be remembered for her joyful smile and independent spirit.

Katherine is survived by her husband Fredric of almost 67 years; son Jeffrey (Mary) Powell; daughter Jennifer (Jeffery) Quick; granddaughters Stephanie Powell Luzi, Olivia Powell, and Rebecca Powell.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 30, 2023 from 11-1 pm followed by a service at 1 pm at Leppert Mortuary, Carmel Chapel, 900 N. Rangeline Road, Carmel, Indiana 46032. Interment to follow at Crown Hill Cemetery, Indianapolis, Indiana.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Katherine’s memory may be made to the Humane Society for Hamilton County, 10501 Hague Rd, Fishers, Indiana, 46038.
