Remembering John from PU and CIBA and many other places. So glad to have gotten a chance to see him in person one last time at the PU-IL football game October 26, 2019.

I cannot believe it has been a year since John's passing. I continue to think of him often and he remains part of conversations regarding great leaders I have worked with. Thank you and best wishes to the Nine family for sharing John with us.  His work impacted the life of many pharmaceutical workers and patients worldwide. To me, John was a great friend and mentor. His legacy will remain with us always.

John and I met at Purdue. In 1969 we were working for the same company in Summit, NJ. Occasionally we would see John on TV at Purdue basketball games. Over the years we found ourselves in the same location around the world, usually at pharmaceutical meetings or shows, and sometimes at Purdue football games. The last time we saw John was October 26, 2019, at the PU-Illinois football game. So glad we had the chance to have a nice chat at that time! We think of him whenever we find ourselves at a place where we were once together in the past.

I was very saddened today when I read in an email from the School of Pharmacy that John had passed away. I knew him at School, as a business associate, at the Pharmacy Dean's Advisory meetings, and at Football Games. I was at Squibb and he was at Scheming in our early years. I always looked forward to seeing him when I visited campus. He was a real Purdue Boilermaker. I guess now he has truly  Boiler Up (ed). God speed my friend

Dearest Janet and Family,  words can’t express how sorry we are to hear about John’s passing.  Purdue has indeed lost a proud warrior.  I always loved seeing him and various family members in the John Nine Suite at the Purdue Football Games.  Thoughts of love and caring are with you and your family at this time.  

John was a larger-than-life character that had a huge impact on so many people during his tenure at Schering!  He was a great mentor with a tremendous business acumen... He was able to switch between a serious senior executive to a much lighter and funny friend as soon as our business was done...His memory was incredible... He could walk through the Packaging lines at Kenilworth and knew virtually all of the names of the folks working there... incredible!  But, my favorite memories of John are during the Brinny construction project and then in Singapore.  He offered keen insights during the day and then, during the evening, he could outlast the youngest of us at the pub in the evening.... and, then, do it again every day for the week! He was a great boss and even better friend.  Cheers John!

My deepest sympathies to the Nine Family on the loss of John . He truly was one of a kind , I spent three months in Miami as part of a team lead by John to intergrate Key Pharmaceuticals into Schering- Plough. We worked 12 hour days but still couldn’t keep pace with John. John was always fair and appreciated our efforts .  Working with John was the best experience in 25 years at Schering-Plough . I’ll always remember his kindness and friendship. My Thoughts and Prayers are with His Family.

My deepest condolences to you and your family.

I first met John in 1993 when he was President of Tech Ops for Schering Plough. I was then a young officer with the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB). John played an instrumental role in Schering Plough's eventual decision to establish its manufacturing plant in Singapore. It was the first American pharmaceutical company to do so, and that catalysed the growth of Singapore's biopharma production base. John was a strong supporter and ambassador for Singapore, and a generous mentor and friend to me and many EDB colleagues. We will forever be grateful to him. It has been an incredible privilege and blessing to know John. We will miss him dearly.
