Emily Marie Pursel

44, of Carmel, departed this life at her home on Tuesday, November 7, 2023. Emily was born July 21, 1979 in Carmel, Indiana to James W. and Donna Marie (Kaiser) Pursel. She was a 1997 graduate of Carmel High School and then attended Purdue University.

Emily was a kind, gentle and intelligent soul who loved helping those in need. She had a deep passion for all types of music and rarely passed on an opportunity to attend a concert. She loved all things Purdue University. She was born with a green thumb and loved being outdoors tending to a garden. She was a great cook who loved to experiment with new recipes, but here chicken piccata was the best ever. Emily made friends wherever she went and usually was able to answer more Jeopardy questions than anyone else in the house

Emily was preceded in death by her mother, Donna Marie Pursel and grandparents, William & Dorothy Kaiser and Sam & Louise Pursel.

She is survived by her loving son, Joe Pursel; devoted father, Jim Pursel; beloved siblings, Tim (Rebecca) Pursel and Samantha (Collin Jones) Pursel; grateful nieces & nephews, Owen, Eli, Maya, Storm, Sky and Atlas; dear uncle, Paul Kaiser and dear aunt, Jan (Mike) Arbuckle as well as her beloved pets, Layla (the dog), Grapevine (the cat) & Carrie Fisher (the fish).

A celebration of Emily’s life will be held at Leppert Mortuaries-Carmel on Friday, November 17, 2023. Visitation will be held from 3:00-6:00pm with a celebration of life service immediately following.
