It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of our dear husband, dad and Papa, Tom Schulz. Tom passed away unexpectedly Friday, February 2, 2018 surrounded by his loving wife, children and grandchildren and in the thoughts and prayers of his many friends.
Tom was born in Detroit, Michigan in 1944 and is survived by his devoted wife of more than 50 years, Dianne and his four children Jerry (Linda), Kary (Patrick), Gary (Kristen) and Sherry as well as nine grandchildren Thomas, Alex, Kayla, Madison, Jonah, Alec, Ava, Jason and Avery.
Tom grew up in Detroit with his two brothers Bob & Hank where he was lovingly known as ‘Bad Tommy’. He worked for 30 years as an over-the-road semi-driver and moved to Cape Coral, Florida in 2004.
Tom enjoyed life to the fullest and made everyone feel loved and special. The most important thing to Tom was being with his family and friends and he will be missed by everyone who knew him. Tom was known to his nine grandchildren and many of his friends as ‘Papa’ and while he would easily take your money in cards, he was quick to give away his winnings to ensure everyone had fun.
Tom touched the hearts of many people and we will all miss him dearly. Tom would want us to smile and celebrate the fun times we had with him and his life well-lived…..that’s what Tom would want.
A memorial service will be held 10am Monday, March 19th at Coral Ridge Funeral Home, 1630 SW Pine Island Rd., Cape Coral, FL 33991 (239-283-0540) with inurnment to follow. In lieu of flowers, family prefers memorial tributes in his name to the Wounded Warrior Project (www. woundedwarriorproject.org).
It takes a minute to find a special person, an hour to appreciate them, and a day to love them, but it takes an entire lifetime to forget them. — Anonymous
