Born March 8, 1943 in Salem, Oregon. Ron was the son of Luvern V. Hornbeck and Virginia Lee Knowles.
Ron was a policeman (M.P.) and a detective stationed in Berlin, Germany. Ron received a National Defense Service Metal, an Army of Occupation Metal (Berlin), also a Sharpshooter Metal (Rifle).
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Linda Hornbeck; brother, Brian Hornbeck (Lori); sister, Lana Hemmerling (Gary); daughter, Cheri Garret; son, David Packer (Nicole); stepchildren, Bruce Bedding, Cheri Yavorsky, 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Ron loved sports. He was a Chicago Bears fan. He also loved boating. In his younger years, he flew planes, raced cars, and had his own taekwondo studio. He was a black belt.
Ron and his brother owned a machine shop in Rockford, Illinois. Ron was the president. He retired after working many years, to Cape Coral, Florida.
Ron was the love of my life. He will be desperately missed.
Ronald will have a memorial service for family only at Sarasota National Cemetery in Florida
