We are neighbors and friends and will miss Dick so much.  We had many nice visits with both Dick and Gerry over many years.  We still look every day to see if he out fishing.  He will be missed by many.

Richard (Dick) was a special, brilliant man. I was so fortunate to know him. I met Richard at the Pine Island Chamber of Commerce where we were both volunteers for about a year. I loved him as soon as we met. My husband, Tim, and I were lucky to sit next to him at a chamber dinner one night and got to know him better, where we learned he lived one canal over from us.  Tim promptly realized he was the same man he called  “the old man in the sea” that we saw fishing for years in his canoe on PI creek. After that we would stop by his home to say hello or wave from our boat passing by.  Richard was a great storyteller, educated, and oh so interesting.  My husband and I feel privileged to have known such a smart, rare gentleman. We will miss you Dick. RIP
