Beth....you are truly missed by all your family & friends!  Glad knowing you are now reunited with your husband, Jim!  Marrying your eldest son, Bill, was an amazing day back in 2002!   We had many fun times fishing near your home every January.  Sanabel Island was my favorite place to visit!  Thank you for putting up with all the fish guts & dirty laundry we made.  It was especially nice having our laundry done for us daily as clean was  a good thing!  Thanksgiving Days were fun celebrating with you, your sons & the Gillispies each year.  Family time is precious!!  *  REST IN PEACE * 

I was so sorry to hear about Mrs. Wierda,....Beth. 
I worked with her many years at Pine Island Elementary. If you ask my grown children who was their favorite teacher, both will tell you Mrs. Wierda. She was always smiling and saying something funny. She loved doing what she did, teaching, making a positive difference in each of her students’ lives. She was truly missed after she retired.  I was blessed to have known her.

I had the privilege and pleasure of being a colleague of Beth, for eight years, at Pine Island Elementary School.  
Beth was one of the best teachers I ever worked with. She always had high expectations for all her students , which resulted in their consistent exceptional performance.  She taught her students with a firm, loving hand. 
Beth was a gentle, kind, good person. I am grateful to have known her.

Beth had the most fun personality. She never failed to make me smile. We had so much fun ribbing each other over college teams and so many other things. 

Beth, occasionally, had a 5th son. Stephen was often with Bill, Jim & the boys Stephen loved to go fishing   Jim often would go to the Aramco Beach (Half Moon Bay) after work and weekends. Since Stephen was often at Beth’s, he would run home  (down the street) for permission. I admired Beth. She always was serene and seemed that nothing ruffled her  Hadn’t seen her in years but she will be missed

We are sorry to hear of Beth’s passing. Although we did not know her well, she seems to have been an amazing person. Our son, Sean Yates, was friends with Joey when we lived in Saudi Arabia. We moved to Cape Coral, FL in 1987 and visited the family at their beautiful location on Pine Island. Unfortunately, with the boys attending different schools, we lost contact. We do hope all her boys and their families will be comforted by God’s peace and precious memories of her. 

I met Beth my first year as a principal at Pine Island Elementary.  Beth immediately welcomed me and taught me the Pine Island  Way.  Her and Becky would greet me each morning as they greeted each of their students in the main hall.  Beth always loved each of her students dearly.  She taught them with great pride and Joy.  I will never forget sitting in her classroom as her students proudly shared their writing with me.  She took great pride in all her students work.  I know Beth was the kind of teacher that students will always remember.  She is a teacher, I will always remember.  Beth even subbed for me at Skyline after she retired.  She was always there to help and inspire.  I am going to miss you Beth, but heaven gained an amazing teacher.  God Bless You, and grant your family peace.  

     Beth and I studied for the teaching exam together! She passed the first time and tutored me in math! Beth shared many stories of her overseas adventures.  
     In 1996, I became part of the PIE family.  Beth found out that my Bithday was April 2nd so every year , Beth would send kids to my room to sing happy birthday, have students go on TV news, to wish me happy birthday, and even have students sing to me in the hallways, EVERY April first. Beth would laugh and laugh! 
      Beth was a wonderful friend, mentor, and teacher she will be missed! Her memory lives on in those she taught and loved.

While everyone who attended Pine Island School always knew who Ms. Wierda was, my family got to know her best when I went from a student at the school to a teacher there. Beth knew her students and the families and didn’t forget any of them! Watching her and Becky’s friendship over the years was a true inspiration. There usually wasn’t a week that passed where Beth wasn’t playing some kind of practical joke on Becky. Weeks before Beth was set to retire she worked very closely with my nephew Troy as a brand new kindergarten student and we will always be grateful for her guidance. I’m so glad my four girls got to know Ms. Wierda as a substitute after she retired. I will also never forget her predicting the fact that I was having twins weeks before the doctors even knew! She will be missed, but the memory of her laughter and sense of humor will always be a treasure. 

My husband Steve and I have known and loved Beth since years before  our children, Joe and Sunshine,  joined their lives in marriage and commenced producing Beth, Steve and I beautiful grandchildren. We had an instant connection through our careers (both of us Lee County teachers), our multiple children(Beth 4 sons and Steve and I            3 daughters), and our crazy senses of humor. We will truly miss her.  . . Her witty remarks,  her joy in her family (kids, grandkids, and great grandkids) and her unconditional love for her family and friends. Beth was a very special lady and teacher and her loss creates a big hole in the many lives she so positively touched. This is especially true for Sunshine and Joe as they opened their hearts and home to her in her final days. Beth shared with me how blessed she was to have family who took care of her when it was hard to care for herself. Our deepest sympathies to her family and friends. We wish you moments of peace and comfort as you remember and celebrate the life of this wonderful woman. 

Beth was my cousin, confidant, and friend whether she lived in Mt.Healthy, California, Arabia, or Florida. She was in my life from the day I was born.  I’ll have an adjustment to make living in a world without Beth.  Due to my age and illnesses, I won’t be at her service which I so sadly regret.
I spoke to her right before her illness and she told me how happy she was living with her son and daughter-in-law. 
Her sons should all be proud of how well their took care of her. Her life was her sons and their families.  Thank you all for the love you gave her. You made her happy and proud.

I met Beth along with her 4 boys when they moved to Pine Island and she enrolled them in school.  Later she became a teacher at  Pine Island  Elementary, so I got to know her.  She became part of the PIE School Family and also part of my Family.   We all celebrated our birthdays and other occasions together.   Our group of 8 became know as Harry’s Harem.   Beth was a great Mom, Teacher and Friend. She  touched a lot lives and will be remembered for her wit, laughter and problem solving.

We had the privilege to work with Beth at Pine Island Elementary for many years. She was a joy to work with and loved teaching the island children. Her fun attitude and caring ways were  contagious. It was evident that she loved her family and friends. 
In later years, she was an excellent Art sub for Jeff.  Kids loved her. She will always be remembered!
