Mary retired from the United States Postal Service and then spent her time with her family and friends. Her favorite activity was visiting any casino she came across; she enjoyed the buffets but mostly playing the slot machines. She loved to travel by train to meet her loved ones for casino outings and always found new friends along the way.
Mary is survived by her son, Daniel (Sheri) Vara of Cape Coral, Florida; sister, Nancy (Chuck) Conn of Arizona; brother, Pat (Betty Jo) Conway of California; grandchildren, Christopher (Cassi) Alderete of California, Jamie (Ricky) Hernandez of California, Kaycee (Fernando) Tinsman of California, Amber (Mike) Brockway of California, Julia (Andrew) Goldstein of California, Madelyn (Brett) Royer of Florida, Michael (Alaura) Gow of Florida, and Jonathan (Rachel) Gow of Alabama; great-grandchildren, Robert, Bradley, Emilee, Ellee, Manny, Anthony, Alexander, and Leo. She also was very loved by her niece and five nephews as well as their families. Mary will also be remembered by many friends and extended family members.
Mary was preceded in death by her loving husband of more than 55 years, Hector (Guy) Vara; daughter Bonnie Tinsman; son Anthony (Tony) Vara; son in law, Steve Tinsman and her parents William and Gertrude Conway.
According to Mary’s wishes, her ashes will be scattered by her loved ones in Big Bear, California.
