Mary Alice McGowin Rudd

Mary Alice Rudd, 75 of Matlacha Isles, FL passed away on Tuesday April 11, 2017. She was born in Fort Myers, FL to Christopher Columbus McGowin and Bessie Mildred Townsend McGowin. She was a graduate of Labelle High School. She married Robert Lee Rudd of Clewiston in 1959 after he “chased” her for 3 years. Together they ran several businesses over the years. She enjoyed traveling across the U.S., the mountains being her favorite. She was a member of; the Ladies of the Greater Pine Island Elks and the Women of the Moose. Her enjoyments included; boating, fishing-only if they were biting, hunting, gardening, canning/freezing, making homemade wine, jams, jellys, etc., playing cards with her lady friends on the island, and her shopping trips with her friends. Most of all she loved her soulmate more than life itself, and all of their children, grandchildren & great grandchildren.

She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years; Robert L. Rudd, Sr; daughter, Rhonda Leigh Jacobsen and her husband, Kevin; son, Robert L. Rudd, Jr and his wife, Georgia (Sissy) Rudd; daughter, Lynda Marie Hughes; grandchildren, Clinton Lee Nottingham, Jonathan Robert Nottingham, Lyndsay Nicole Hunter, Robert L. Rudd III, Tara Lynne Rhodes, Spencer Todd Hughes; great grandsons, Bradley Jacob Nottingham, Kaden Steven Fischer, Caleb Trace White, Carter Camden Rhodes; sister, Ann Dyess and her husband, Sermon; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was loved by all that met her and will be missed by many. She truly had a heart of gold.

Funeral Services will be celebrated at 12:00 noon on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at Coral Ridge Funeral Home, 1630 SW Pine Island Rd., Cape Coral, FL with a visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m.
