And my oh my, how she loved her family.
She was born Marlene Carol Hughes on March 7, 1938 in Youngstown Ohio, and married Rea Maurice Means, with whom she had 5 children. Involved in church ministries, children’s ministries, rescue mission ministries, and being a Preacher’s wife, her life revolved around serving her Lord and her God. She moved with her family to Florida where she soon became a huge part of the Bayshore Community Chapel family. Playing the piano, Sunday School teaching, Bible School… she was dedicated to “Letting her light so shine” before others and letting God use her in in many different ways.
Later on, she married William Glen Alderman and after 34 years of being together, living and traveling in their motor home, they decided to move back to Ft. Myers to be close to their families. No one knew a few days ago that, as Paul in the Bible, the time of her departure was at hand. What began as some pains in the chest, shortly developed into complications and she went to be with her Lord on Friday, February 22, 2019.
There’s a song: “Well it's a great, great mornin', Your first day in Heaven, When you stroll down the Golden Avenue…”, and we KNOW, she had an AMAZING and INCREDIBLE welcome there, especially to be joined with her beloved and greatly missed great-grandson, Joshua. To be around the Throne, praising, eternally rejoicing… Truly “we can only imagine”.
There will be a memorial service for family and all her church family and friends at the Bayshore Community Church at 16990 Church Drive, in North Fort Myers, Florida on Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at 7:00 PM.
