On September 12, 2022; his 58th wedding anniversary; Mario John Peppe received his angel wings at the age of 81. John, as everyone called him, was a loving husband to MaryAnn, an amazing father to John (Maria), Jennifer (Arthur), and Michael (Kim); as well as a proud grandfather to Nicholas, Christopher, Marissa, and Cole; and wonderful brother to JoAnne, Rosemarie and Anthony.
John grew up in West Orange, NJ. He graduated from West Orange High School and received his BA from Seton Hall University. He ran track for both schools and received many awards. While he attended Seton Hall, John became a proud member of the U.S. Army National Guard. All the while he worked his way through college.
After marrying the love of his life, John started working for Union Labor Life Insurance Company, in New York. He would travel from New Jersey into New York City daily, leaving before dawn and returning after dark - all to provide for his family. He moved his family to Maryland when his company moved from Manhattan to Washington DC in 1983. During his career, he became a mentor and a friend to many who looked up to him and was pivotal in jump starting careers. He even helped to get summer jobs for his daughter and her friends. John worked there his entire career, retiring as a Vice President for the company. Everyone that came in contact with John had a deep and profound respect for him. He saw the good in people, even if they did not see the good in themselves. He would help out anyone in any situation, without judgment. He was a special person.
Upon retirement, John and MaryAnn moved to Pompano Beach, Florida, where he served as the Condominium President for a few years. Then they moved to The Villages, Florida where he continued his love of the game of golf. John had been an avid golfer for years, but even more so when he moved to The Villages; he golfed three to four times a week. He even got MaryAnn interested in the sport. John was the rock of his family, and he will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.
