Margaret was born in Trussville, Alabama, a section of Birmingham where she grew up. Her parents were Mary Elizabeth and James Arthur Head who were in the Dairy business.
After graduating high school, Margaret worked for the phone company in Birmingham and met her husband Bill Martin, whom she married in 1957. She was a homemaker and went with him from Birmingham to Huntsville and finally to Satellite Beach, Florida. Margaret was a founding member of the First Baptist Church of Satellite Beach, a member of the Homemaker's club, a Cub Scout and Girl Scout leader, a little league mother, and a Sunday School teacher. After volunteering as a Crossing Guard for many years, she was the first paid Crossing Guard for the Brevard County Sheriff's Department.
Margaret married Weldon Young in 1991 at the First Baptist Church of Melbourne where they were active members. Weldon and Margaret were devoted to each other and travelled the world, went on many mission trips to Romania and finally went to full time missions in Panama while in their 70s.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husband Weldon. She will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by her children Kirk (Lisa) Martin, Suzanne (Matthew-deceased) Calhoun-Bilbo, Rusty (Gail) Martin, Deborah (Robert) Worzalla, Spencer Young and Allison (Doug) Zabransky, 13 Grandchildren and 14 Great-Grandchildren.
A gathering for Margaret will be held Monday, January 15, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Coral Ridge Funeral Home & Cemetery, 950 Chiquita Blvd. S, Cape Coral, FL 33991. A funeral service will occur from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, followed by the burial.
