Mabel Vyleeta Hechenberger, born June 20, 1930, in Essex, MO, peacefully passed away on November 15, 2023. She was the beloved daughter of Riley and Mae Lape.
Mabel dedicated her life to various endeavors, beginning as a hardworking cotton picker and later showcasing her talents as a skilled sewing machine operator. She went on to become a successful business owner, leaving a lasting impact on her community.
A woman of immense faith, Mabel was the founder of a cherished Bible study in Cape Coral, FL. She excelled in her roles as a devoted spouse and housewife, a nurturing mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and a cherished friend to many.
Known for her expertise as a dressmaker, Mabel's hobbies reflected her creativity and passion for crafting. Her traits of strength, love, care, and beauty touched the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Mabel was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Wally April 13, 2009. She is survived by her four children: Wallace Heckenberg (Rosa), Brad Heckenberg (Lana), Darlene Compton, and Bonnie Holmes (Lanman). Mabel's legacy lives on through her grandchildren: David and Monica, Loraine and Christopher, Tracy, Cindy and Lee, and Sean and Jaimee. Her great grandchildren: Brittney and Joshua, Kiersten, Jaylen, Liam and Luca, Kami and Madison, and Nicholas and Hannah. She is also remembered by numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A woman of the Lord, Mabel Vyleeta Hechenberger leaves behind a legacy of love, faith and warmth that will be forever cherished by those who knew her. May she rest in eternal peace.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 22, 2023, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Coral Ridge Funeral Home & Cemetery, 950 Chiquita Blvd. S, Cape Coral, FL 33991, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM
