Laurel was born in The Dalles Oregon on July 28,1939, to Francis and Margaret Taylor. She grew up in the Beaverhead County area in Montana. She was full of life and energy. She enjoyed music and was in choir and band. Helping people and caring for them was her passion. She entered nurses training at the Columbus School of Nursing in Columbus Montana. She later met Edward Hopewell and they married and had 4 children. They traveled throughout the United States and Canada for Edward's job. They settled in the Bighole Valley in Montana in 1972. They divorced later in 1983 and Laurel moved to Dillon Montana then to Great Falls Montana to finish a degree in Counseling Psychology and retired with her daughter in Cape Coral, Florida. Laurel loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a strong advocate for keeping children safe. Laurel had a strong unwavering faith. She loved Jesus and her joy was immeasurable. She was a positive role model and was the picture of perseverance. She loved gardening and being outside. Anything organic she had to try. Reading positive affirmation books was part of her daily life. Laurel will be greatly missed by many. She is survived by her sister Doris Winters of South Dakota, her daughters Ginny Love of Harrison, Idaho and Maggie and Mike Walters of Cape Coral, Florida, 17 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, numerous nephews and nieces. She is preceded in death by her father Francis Taylor and her mother Margaret, her sons Matthew and Frank Hopewell.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 30, 2016, at Cape Christian Fellowship, 2110 Chiquita Blvd. Cape Coral, Florida 33991 beginning at 4:00 PM.
