It is with great sadness that we announce our beloved father Karl Ely Wallach passed away peacefully in his home on August 1, 2024, at the age of 99. He is survived by his two sons, Charles and Edward Wallach, daughter-in-law Diana Wallach, Granddaughter Carolyn Wallach and Grandson James Wallach. He also leaves behind his Great Grand Children Noemie Albert and Eloise Albert of Canada, and his Stepsons, Andrew and Edward Petrillo. He was preceded in death by his 1st wife Carol Loeb Wallach, and second wife, Anne Wallach.
Karl was born in New York City, NY, on March 9, 1925, to Alva Meyer Wallach and Harry Wallach. He was a WWII Navy Veteran and graduate of Columbia University through the G.I. Bill. He loved his family and sports. As Chairman of Beconta Inc. his company imported and distributed Puma® shoes and several well-known winter skiwear and equipment companies to the United States. He loved to play golf, tennis and snow ski. He had a passion for boating and fishing throughout his life. He was a supporter of The Guardian Angels for Special Populations, as well as an active and proud member of the Merry Mainers Boat Club of Cape Coral. Karl loved to talk about family, politics, finance, sports and his life experiences.
Karl lived in Manhattan and Scarsdale, New York, Aspen and Carbondale, Colorado, and finally in Cape Coral, Florida, with his son Edward and daughter-in-law Diana.
Karl will be laid to rest in Aspen, Colorado, next to his late wife Anne in The Red Butte Cemetery on August 22, 2024 at 1pm. All friends and family are welcome. The family asks that donations be made to the Guardian Angels for Special Populations (a 501c(3)) of Cape Coral, Fl., which assists the premier program for Specially abled adults.
