Joyce Cotton, 93 of Cape Coral, Florida, passed away on the 13th of March, 2023 at the Cove part of Gulf Coast Village. She suffered from a long-time illness of Alzheimers. Joyce was born in Althol, Ma on September 9, 1929. Joyce is the daughter of Henry and Helen Cormier. She worked in a factory near Althol, later in her life she moved from Althol to Portsmouth, N.H> and was later married to Edwin Cotton.
She was very active in the Eastern Star and was elected to Worthy Matron in 1982 in Rivermouth Chapter, O.E.S. She loved working with the ladies of Eastern Star Chapter. In 1984 Joyce was the first lady elected in the squadron history to be the squadron commander. She was installed as the Commander of the Power Squadron by the Honorable Mayor Eileen Foley of Portsmouth, N.H. Edwin and Joyce both served together as Squadron Commander and District Commander of District 19 in 1984. In 1998, she and her husband moved from Rye N.H. to Cape Coral, Florida. Shortly after arrival in Cape Coral, her husband joined affiliated with the Araba Shrine and Joyce joined to Daughters of the Nile, a Ladies organization of the Shrine.
Joyce will always be remembered by friends and family as a loving and fun going woman. She is survived by her loving husband, Edwin Cotton, of the last 45 years. Her two sons, Michael, who is deceased and Timothy Botti of Concord, N.H. She also had 2 stepsons, David and Darrell whose wives are respectively Grace and Shelly and one daughter, Marilyn Stepp. Four grandchildren, David, Joshua, Cassandra and Samantha. Five great-grandchildren, Hunter, Dillan, Megan, Caleb and Wyatt. As well as many other cherished friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Coral Ridge Cemetery in the Main Chapel on Sunday, April 16, 2023 from 1:30-3pm.
