Joseph Vincent Carroll, 88, of Cape Coral, Florida passed away gently at home Wednesday, May 22, 2024, with the love of his life holding his hand and whispering in his ear. Born April 5, 1936, in Newburgh, New York, Joe met his bride, Jennie Moglia, when they were still in high school.
Joe joined the National Guard when he was just a teen. He spent 37 years working for IBM where his outstanding work ethic led to his rise to 4th level management.
Joe is survived by his wife, Jennie Carroll, and they would have celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary on June 22, 2024. He is also survived by his daughters, Deborah Carroll and her partner Steven Reissig of Moretown, Vermont, Barbara Lapointe of Jericho, Vermont, and Joanne Carroll and her partner Philip Nutton of North Las Vegas, Nevada, as well as his only son Charles Carroll and his wife Stacey of Kerrville, Texas. Joseph was also a proud grandfather to Joseph Lapointe and his wife Anna, Devin Conway and his partner Alex Conlon, Turner Carroll and his partner Tomaso DeLuca, Kristine Lapointe, John Vincent Conway, Sullivan Carroll, and Lilia Conway and her fiancé Nicholas Staples, as well as Eryn and John Hume. One of the greatest joys of his life has been getting to know his four great granddaughters, Margaret, Madeleine and Marianne Lapointe, and Matilda Conway.
In addition to his family, Joe’s lifelong passions included cars, motorcycles, boats, and any other “toy” with a fast motor and a shiny paint job, and he maintained everything in impeccable condition. Happy were those who purchased Joe’s toys when he was due to upgrade or ready to slow down.
A devout Catholic, a mass will be said in Joseph’s honor at 11am on June 13th at Saint Katherine Drexel Parish, 1922 SW 20th Ave, Cape Coral, FL 33991, and friends will gather after the mass for remembrance and fellowship.
