Jean Edith Spence

Spence, Jean 03/07/1930 - 10/24/2022, age 92, of Cape Coral, passed away peacefully on October 24, 2022. She was born in Long Island, NY and raised in Denmark. Returning to the US after high school, Jean taught dance at Arthur Murray’s Dance Studio in Ann Arbor, Michigan, where she met Gordon, a firefighter who would be her future husband. They wed in Ann Arbor, and moved to Cape Coral in 1978. Jean also worked at the Cape Coral Country Club and for the Lee County school district as a cafeteria worker until she retired. She was involved in the Moose, Deborah, and the Michigan Club, and was a devoted Everblades fan!

Jean was a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who is survived by her daughter, Karen (Steve) Belcher; 2 grandchildren, Gordon (Crystal) Belcher, Jacob (Katlyn) Belcher; and 4 great-grandchildren, Gordon, Desmond, Bowen, and Amelia. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Emil & Edith Hammerum, husband, Gordon Spence and her sister, Joan Moses. Jean will be interred with her husband at Coral Ridge Cemetery. Celebration of life will take place this summer in Michigan.
