Janet Rachel Bailin, 70, died August 8, 2016 in her home in St. James City. Janet was born October 3, 1945 to Harold and June Bailin of Centerville, SD and was raised in Sioux Falls, SD where she graduated from Boston University with a degree in history. Following college, Janet went to Israel for 10 years, where she became a dual citizen of Israel and the United States and taught English. After returning from Israel, Janet received her Masters degree in Library Science from Syracuse University. She was a researcher at the Library of Congress in Washington, DC and at the Executive Office of the President (Reagan) before she became a law librarian in Washington. She became the product manager for a library automation system for special libraries and federal agencies and later became Director of Information Systems for a large law firm with offices in Washington and Atlanta. Following treatment for breast cancer, Janet semi-retired with her husband to Pine Island in 1999. Janet loved the arts, with season tickets to the opera, the symphony and live theater. She was active in a local dine and dance group, a wine tasting group and was a member of the Cape Coral Power and Sail Club and the Italian American Club. She was a loving wife and a doting grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her father Harold, and is survived by her loving husband Gene Scarzafava; mother June Bailin of Louisville, CO; 2 sisters Roxanne Bailin of Boulder, CO and Miriam Bailin of Clayton, MO. 2 children David Scarzafava of McDonough, GA and Shelly Sheets of Locust Grove, GA and 4 loving grandchildren.
In accordance with her wishes, there will be no memorial services, but the memory of her will be cherished by all who knew her.
