Hugh W. (Hughie) Sewell, 60, passed away Thursday, September 26, 2013, peacefully at home in North Port, Fl. under Tidewell Hospice care after a long battle with cancer with his wife, Linda, and his beloved dog, Venice, by his side. He was born February 7, 1953, in Fall River, Mass to William and Mary Sewell.
Hugh attended Catholic schools in Fall River, graduated from Bishop Stang in Dartmouth, and attended Bristol Community College. He worked as an appliance repair tech for A&E Appliance Repair in Massachusetts and transferred to Florida in 2004. In 2009, he began working for DSM Appliance, until he was too ill to continue working.
Hugh was a Past Exalted Ruler of Fall River, Mass Elks Lodge #118. While he would not give up his Honorary Life Membership by transferring to a Florida Lodge, he was very active in the Elks Lodges here in Florida. Members of Deep Creek Elks Lodge #2763, recently made him an Honorary Life Member to show their appreciation for all he has done for the lodge. He started weekly Corn Hole tournaments, a Horseshoe League, was a Charter Member of the Elk’s Riders U.S.A., he scheduled “Mystery Bus Rides” to other lodges in the state.
In his spare time he loved riding his “Patriots” motorcycle, watching his beloved Patriots and Red Sox play, and working in his yard. Hugh will surely be missed by everyone who ever met him.
