8:09 pm. He was born on May 11, 1958 in San Sebastian, Puerto Rico, to Raul Ortega
and Emilia Lopez (Deceased). He was one of 8 siblings. Efrain attended Trenton State College in Trenton, NJ, where he became one of the founding brothers of Lambda Theta Phi Latin Fraternity, Gamma Chapter, in spring of 1980.
Efrain was married to Luz Perez on May 26, 1989. They had two wonderful children, Efrain Ortega Jr. and Jesica Ortega. Those who knew him would say he was the definition of personality, fun, and a family man. He was a true legend. Efrain had a passion for cars, music, dancing, reading informational books, eating, and grilling at family gatherings. Although Efrain did not love the beach, he loved getting lost in the waves and going for long swims. He loved the beauty of water. He was a very hard working man that loved to provide for his family. When he wasn't working, you would find him in his garage working on his pride and joy, a 1963 Chevy Impala. In his later years, he was Diagnosed with Alzheimer's/Dementia. Even though this disease is mind crippling, it did not take away his love for music and dancing. Up until
his last few months, you would still find him clapping or humming to the beat of salsa, his favorite genre of all.
Efrain is survived by his beloved wife Luz Ortega, caring son Efrain Jr., loving daughter Jesica, two beautiful grandchildren Ezekiel Noel and Ariya Emilia, three brothers Benjamin, Anselmo (Joe), and Gilbert, and two sisters Carmen and Anaida. A viewing and service will be held on Friday March 11, 2022 at 5pm. Coral Ridge Funeral Home. 950 Chiquita Blvd S Cape Coral, FL 33991.
