David M. Tunney, 76, of Cape Coral, FL passed away Thursday, December 19, 2019. Born August 3, 1943 in St. Catherines, Ontario, Canada, David attended Cathedral Preparatory School for Boys, and graduated from Gannon University with a B.S. degree. Prior to becoming a naturalized United States citizen, he served honorably in the United Sates Army.
David was married on June 19, 1986 to Cathy Van Kleef. He had a career as Director of Engineering in the natural gas industry, employed by American Meter Company and Washington Gas. A member of the Cape Coral Men’s Golf League David had a passion for golfing, photography, boating, shelling, rock collecting, international travel, designing custom golf clubs for his friends and the 19th hole.
David is survived by two daughters, Lisa Lamont (Tim Jones) and Erica Tunney Ho, both of San Diego and one son, Craig B. Hicks of Woodbridge, VA and by grandchildren Haley, Jordan, London, Kelsey and Ethan. He is also survived by brother, Mark Tunney (Michelle Clouthier) of Las Vegas, sister-in-law Karen Van Kleef (Charles Warnick) and his beloved dog Maggie.
A Memorial Service will be held at Coral Ridge Funeral Home, Cape Coral, FL, on Saturday, January 4, 2020 at 11am. Family will be greeting guests between 10 – 11am.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hope Hospice, 9470 Health Park Circle, Fort Myers, FL 33908 in remembrance of David Tunney.
