David William Richards

Passed away September 6, 2022 in Cape Coral, FL.

David was born on July 30, 1935 to David John and Gladys Richards in Poughkeepsie, NY. He graduated from Bowling Green State University with a Masters Degree in Education. He retired from Lorain Ohio City Schools after 30 years as a teacher and high school principal.

David enjoyed years of camping, fishing, reading, following sports and was happiest when cooking gourmet meals for his friends and family.

David leaves behind his loving wife of 64 years, Joyce; his three children Janice Gruver, Jane (Robert) Blake, and David (Rebecca) Richards; grandchildren Jennifer Gruver, Julie Gruver, Emily (Blake) Hooks, Nick Blake, Alex Blake, Taylor Corrigan, Whitney Corrigan, Anna Davis, Nathan Davis; great-grandchildren, Janah Manning, James Hooks, Carter Hooks, Autumn Woffert; and many friends and colleagues.

David was a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge (Ohio and Florida), the Al Koran Shrine Club in Cleveland, Ohio and the Araba Shrine Club of Ft. Myers, FL, in which he was the Potentate in 1999. He was also very active in various Shrine clubs including the Hunters, Mariners, and Jesters.

As a means of celebrating David's life, the family is requesting donations to the Shriner's Children's Hospitals.
