Clyde John Stedcke Jr. passed on to be with Jesus on September 2, 2018. He was 89 years old. Born on March 15, 1929, to Clyde and Juanita Stedcke in Lima, Ohio, he was one of four children. His family moved to Toledo, Ohio in 1931. Clyde was a hardworking, honest man. He had his first job in the 4th grade making fishing lures for a local merchant, receiving 10 cents per lure. That job preceded many others in his young years including setting up pins at the local bowling alley, selling men’s clothing, digging graves at the local cemetery, and timekeeping for Spicer, a large company. He attended college at the University of Toledo. In 1949 he married his high school sweetheart, Marilyn Ruth Power, of Toledo. They welcomed five children into their family. He became a car salesman for Lee Motor Company in Toledo at the age of 20. When Lee Motors closed he went to work for Brondes Ford in 1957 where he was a salesman, new car sales manager and later Co-General Manager with his longtime friend, Jack Cook.
Clyde was an active member of Westgate Chapel in Toledo, Ohio. He and Marilyn moved to Cape Coral, Florida in 1986. For the past 4 ½ years he has been a resident at Life Care Center of Punta Gorda, Florida.
Clyde loved the Lord, his family and friends, laughter and ice cream. He had a quick sense of humor and enjoyed telling stories to make others laugh. Even in the final years, as his body was failing and became its own prison, Clyde still found a way to tell a joke or make a humorous observation. He was generous and kind and a faithful husband, father and friend. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Clyde John Stedcke Sr. and Juanita Ruth Stedcke, his older sister Ruth Eileen, and his son-in-law, Timothy Jackson.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Marilyn Ruth (Power) Stedcke, his sons John Stedcke (Lee) of Toledo, Ohio, James Stedcke (Janet), of North Ft. Myers, Florida, his daughters, Judy Stedcke of North Ft. Myers, JoAnn (Bob) Vanderloo of Olathe, Kansas and Jeanine Jackson of Gardner, Kansas, his sisters Betty Wells of Temperance, Michigan, and Shirlee Patterson of Akron, Ohio, 15 grandchildren and 40 great grandchildren. He will be sorely missed. He was a blessing to all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be sent in memory of Clyde Stedcke Jr. to: Northshore Alliance Church, 330 North Mariana Ave., North Ft. Myers, FL 33903
