Burton James Nelson

Burt served 2 years in the United States Navy aboard the USS Mauna Kea and continued his service in the naval reserves. Burt retired from the construction industry as president of Peter Nelson & Son - a family owned business. He was a board member of the Associated General Contractors of Wisconsin, served on the board of YMCA, a Grenedier for La Crosse Oktoberfest festival, member of Ducks Unlimited, Zor shrine, Elks, Fishers of Men Lutheran Church.

Hunting wild game, boating on the Mississippi river and golfing with family and friends was an important part of his life.

Burton is survived by his beloved spouse of 53 years, Wanda; daughter, Pamela (Ronald) Hanson; granddaughter, Anna Riddle; sister Jeanette (George) Kupferschmid and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Esther and Orval Nelson, sister Joan and Robert Kime.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Fishers of Men Lutheran Church on Pine Island on Saturday, March 29th at 3pm and a later date in La Crosse, WI.
