Funeral service for William Gary Greer, 79 years of age, born in Amarillo and resident of the China Grove Community outside of Canton, Texas, will be held Monday, February 22, 2021 at 10:00am at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton. Pastor Donald Thomas officiating with visitation one hour prior to service.
William Gary Greer, a loving husband, father, grandfather, twin brother and uncle was called home February 13, 2021 and is now sitting at the feet of His Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Gary loved the Lord and was a devout Christian of the Catholic Church in Gun Barrel City. He enjoyed attending other services with his grandchildren’s home church as well. He was a mason and served with Arlington Lodge 438. Gary retired from the phone company with 30+ years.
Gary enjoyed traveling along with his beloved wife Betty and he loved to go to the coast. When his daughter was young, they enjoyed scuba diving together. He loved red cardinals. He felt as they represented the love of Christ and angels when he looked upon them. He always had a smile and chuckle when he came up to you. He will be missed by many family and friends in which he cherished.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents; William Gordon and Gladys Woofter Greer, and Linda Sue Nottingham, his twin sister.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Joyce Greer; daughter, Darla Sweazea; Grandchildren Bart Sweazea Jr. & Briana Sweazea and many more extended family members. David & Stephanie Gurley, step-daughter; grandchildren: Brandon, Leigha, Clay & Haleigh and seven great-grandchildren; Lori Craft, step-daughter and grandchildren Jake, Wade & Rayanne Cumbie.
Pallbearers are Bart Sweazea Jr., Jeff Nottingham, Justin Nottingham, Brandon Gurley, Clay Gurley, Ryan Pannell and Parker Busch.
