William passed away on October 5, 2020 at home from a heart condition. He was born on November 27, 1933 in Caruthersville, Missouri to William Erving Dyess and Geraldine Bennett Dyess.
Bill was in active duty with the Navy July of 1952 to June of 1956. He was on the USS Cony, a destroyer ship, where he was a radar and radio operator. He received the National Defense Service Ribbon, the Good Conduct Metal and the Nave Occupation Service Metal. Bill married Wanda Dean Giddens on June 2, 1960. They were married 60 years. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Math and Mechanical Engineering from U. T. of Arlington. Bill worked for the United States Postal Service at the Bulk Mail Center where he was the Director of Plant Maintenance. He retired from the North Texas Division in Coppell, Texas. Bill was a member of the Rockwall and Brin Church of Christ and then the Church of Christ in Terrell, Texas.
Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Wanda Dyess of Terrell, TX; sons, William David Dyess and wife, Sally of Carrollton, TX, Wayne Bennett Dyess and wife, Vangie of Terrell, TX.; grand-daughters, Dayna Roberts and husband, Jerry of Round Rock, TX, Rachel Sawyer and husband, A. J. of Round Rock, TX and Stephanie Dyess of Round Rock, Texas.
He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Geraldine Dyess.
Interment will be at DFW National Cemetery in Arlington, Texas, where he will rest in peace waiting to be with the Lord on Judgement Day!
