We became friends playing baseball back in Longview when he made a running catch of the best ball I ever hit against the left field fence. I was honored to be a groomsman at his wedding where I survived the antics of Donny Hyles who was another groomsman. He was a a great drummer back in the day too. He will be missed, but I know he’s in a better place. Rest east Sergeant, you did your duty well.

Buck it was an Honor and Privilege to serve with you at the Dallas Police Department. RIP My Brother.

Buck was my partner at northeast and was a great cop and a outstanding person and was always very professional. We are praying for the family in your loss and know he is in a better place

Buck was my DPD class advisor in 1979, and my second phase field trainer. He was always like my “super big brother” on steroids. He guided me through those difficult academy days, when I was struggling to complete the Bachman Lake run or DT Test. He guided me through the difficult days as we worked shifts and responded to calls.  Buck always told me to keep work in perspective. Family was the most important thing to him and he truly exemplified that priority. 

I am retired from DPD thanks to Buck. I have always understood my life’s priorities, thanks to Buck. I completed the DPD academy, thanks to Buck. I am so fortunate to have had Buck Buchanan in my life.  He was a wonderful friend. 

My heart is heavy for Buck’s  family. I can not imagine your pain. I know the joy that each of you brought to his life. My prayers are with you. I pray that you feel his love and support as you move through your grief and this difficult time.

It was such a privilege to have worked with Buck at the Dallas Police Academy.  He was always the consummate professional and strived to project the excellence of our department to others.  Buck, was a good friend who I admired and respected, someone who led by example. To the family, I extend my condolences and heartfelt prayers.    

I had the pleasure of working with Buck in NE Patrol way back when. He was a true professional and a very nice guy. He was a true asset to DPD!

Good man. Good officer. Good sergeant. Good friend. I’m proud to have known him.

It was an honor to work for  Sgt. Buck.  His true character shown through in all that he did.  Continued prayers for all of his loved ones.  

I’m very sorry for the loss of your dad.. I can say it was nice meeting him, when he came out to Sac, CA to help move Adam home. He was very sweet, very caring.
I hope all your memories help comfort you all. Alison, Adam, Clay, Buck,  and family sending you all lots of love and many hugs.
