Walter Louis Jones

Walter was born on September 3, 1940 in Houston, Texas to John B. and Edna Mae Jones. He was a 1959 graduate from Thomas Jefferson High School in Dallas, Texas. Upon graduation, Walter joined the U.S. Army and was stationed at the Nike Missile Unit in Denton, Texas. While stationed in Denton, he attended North Texas University. Walter ended his service in the Army stationed in Okinawa. Walter had a lifetime career in the insurance business beginning at The Home Insurance Company in Dallas, Texas and retired as a Partner at the Talon Insurance Agency in Tyler, Texas.

The day that God chose to bring Walter home, there was no doubt that he had lived life to its fullest taking every opportunity to see all the places on his bucket list. He made many close friends and left us all with countless cherished memories. Walter’s larger-than-life personality and infectious humor will be remembered by all. Walter enjoyed bass fishing, attending his poker clubs, betting on the horses, and good books and movies, especially his all-time favorite, Lonesome Dove.

Walter was preceded in death by his loving mother and father and his loving brother – John Richard Jones. He leaves his loving memories to be cherished by his daughter, Stephanie L. Hill and husband, Blake; grandsons Austin and Ryan Hill; son, Mark D. Jones; Donna L. Jones, mother of Mark and Stephanie; sister, Rebecca A. Cantrell and husband, Jerry; sister, Carolyn Sue Morse and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton, Texas on March 8, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. followed by a chapel service only at 11:00 a.m.
