Thomas Edwin Cole, 74, of Canton, Texas, sadly passed away on January 2, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on December 10, 1949, in Albany, New York, to Edwin Harold and Lois (Wheat) Cole. Thomas attended Ravena Coeymans Selkirk High School growing up and met the love of his life in Deborah Spurling where they spent much of their time together and developed a love that would last a lifetime. Thomas graduated in 1968, then honorably joined the Air Force and flew missions into Vietnam from the Philippines and Thailand. He saw every country in the world, including lots of time in Europe, England, Spain and even Russia. Then in November 1971, he and Deborah happily married and were blessed with 52 wonderful years! Following his time in the military, Thomas demonstrated his training and love of hard work every day by being a top notch aircraft mechanic for Southwest Airlines. On his days off, Thomas loved to hunt, fish and take his beloved horses on trail rides. Thomas also enjoyed spending time with his church family, where he was a member of Heritage Trail Cowboy Church for the past several years.
Thomas is preceded in death by his loving parents, Ted and Lois; and brother-in-law, Thomas Schamerhorn.
He is survived by his adored wife, Deborah; son, Matthew; and sister, Susan Schamerhorn.
In respect of Thomas’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. He will be laid to rest at DFW National Cemetery in honor of his service to our country.
