Robert Wayne Duncan, Sr.

Celebration of life services for Robert Wayne Duncan, Sr., 76, of Canton, Texas will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at Eubank Funeral Home with Pastor Justin Howe officiating. Visitation with the family will be held prior to the service from 1:00-2:00 pm at the funeral home.

Robert was born February 18, 1947, in Antlers, Oklahoma to Washington Francis and Rosie Lee (Scroggins) Duncan. After school, Robert proudly served in the Army from 1968-1969, coming home to begin driving a truck cross country and exploring the territory. When Robert was home he loved to farm and raise chickens. He believed that everyone should have fresh eggs every day! Robert began working for the City of Mesquite in the Water Department for several years before eventually moving to the City of Dallas Street Department. Along the way, he met his true love in Marjorie Ann and together they spent 34 wonderful years together after joining in marriage on September 16, 1989. Robert’s favorite weekend pastime was to gather as many grandkids around as possible and have western marathons or listen to country music. Especially his favorite, George Jones.

Robert is preceded in death by his son, Robert Wayne Duncan, Jr.; parents, Washington and Rosie Duncan; sisters: Gracie Kolb, Bessie Melton; brothers: Alfred Duncan, David Duncan, Frank Duncan and Dennis Duncan.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Marjorie Duncan; daughters: Mynetta Read, Shannon Clark; son, Larry Smith; grandchildren: Kara, Robert, R.J., Jesalyn, Luke, Joe, Danielle, Heaven, Raymond, Dallas; 16 great grandchildren; sisters: Bonnie Fowler, Phyllis Harris, Rosie Holmes, Sue Pell; longtime friend, Johnny Grimes; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Pallbearers will be Robert Grizzell, Johnny Grimes, Roger Grizzell, Jr., and Luke Grizzell.
