Rhonda Marie Rodgers, 62, of Edgewood, Texas, went home to be with the Lord on April 10, 2025, in Tyler, Texas. Born in Dallas on June 5, 1962 to Nolan Leroy Burton and Dorothy Marie Platter Burton, Rhonda spent her life loving deeply and living joyfully.
She grew up in the Edgewood and Canton area and was a devoted member of Willow Springs Baptist Church. On November 2, 1982, she married her soulmate, Lynn Rodgers, and together they shared nearly 41 beautiful years of marriage.
Lovingly known as “Granny” to many, Rhonda dedicated her life to caring for others. She owned and operated a daycare center for many years, joyfully watching the children in her care learn and grow. She proudly retired from Terrell State Hospital after 23 years of dedicated service. Family was everything to Rhonda. Whether on a cruise or simply spending time at home, her happiest moments were with her loved ones. She was her grandchildren’s biggest fan—cheering them on from the stands and beaming with pride at every activity they were part of.
Rhonda brought warmth, color, and laughter into every room—especially when she was wearing her favorite color, red. She believed you could never have too much red, or too much love.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Lynn; her son-in-law, Danny Duecker; brother Randy Burton; and her brother-in-law, Randy Taylor.
Rhonda is survived by her daughter, Candace and husband Marty Mooring; stepdaughter, Leslie Duecker; grandchildren, Carly Mooring, Brody Mooring, and Brandon Duecker; sister, LaDonna Taylor; brother, Ronnie and wife Cindy Burton; and a host of extended family and treasured friends.
Her legacy of love, kindness, and faith will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
