Nancy Sue Gray

An amazing woman, Nancy Sue Warner Gray, 74, was born on August 2, 1944 in Dallas, Texas. Nancy was born to parents, Charles Leslie and Margie Mae Kilgore Warner and celebrated by grandparents, John Quincy and Linnie Mae Kilgore and William David and Mary Elizabeth Warner. Nancy loved her family deeply. She is proceeded in death by her parents and grandparents and grandson, Jerod David Gray. She is celebrated and loved on this earth by sister, Joan Leslie Williams, four daughters; Leslie Reeves and husband, Mark of Canton, TX and their son, Austin Day and Misty, Ryan Reeves and Courtney; Allison French and husband, Jeff of Canton, TX and their sons, Cole, Carson and Casen; Shirley Gray Rogers and husband, Don of Mesquite, TX and their children, Leah Worthington and husband, Josh and Wade Rogers and Mandilyn; Kathy Gray of Mesquite, TX; and one son Joel Gray and wife, Kathy of Forney, TX and their children Cord Gray, Jordan Gray and Joe; and lifelong friend, Debbie Justice, “Aunt Debbie” to the family, and so many lifelong beloved friends, travel and card buddies.

Nancy chose public education as her life’s purpose by earning her B.S and Masters of Education from Texas A&M Commerce. Other professional certifications included; Speech and Drama, History, Special Education, Diagnostician and her life-time Mid-Management certification as Administrator. She began her teaching career in 1969 and served as Assistant Principal of Ralph Poteet High School and Coordinator of Professional Learning in Mesquite ISD before retiring as a highly sought after consultant. Her energy, her passion, her quick wit, and amazing connection to her learners created lifelong bonds of friendship. She was a Life Mem- ber of the Texas State Teachers Association and served as a devoted member and board member of the Texas Staff Development Council, presently, Learning Forward. In 2007, she was awarded the prestigious Staff Developer of the Year.

Nancy loved life. She loved to travel, meet new people, play cards and games and laugh out loud in a way that made the world smile with her. There was nothing like a Nancy Gray hug. Life will not be the same without her - a huge void will forever remain—as we all remember and love her forever.

It’s hard to forget someone who gave us so much to remember.

To know Mom was to love her... her spirit, her energy and her passion for life. She touched thousands of lives—students, teachers, colleagues and friends, with her generous, authentic and kind heart. She was a force of life, loving and laughter. We already miss our Mom we know we will see her again one day. The loss is incomprehensible yet we find peace in the knowledge that she is at home with Jesus and her legacy continues to live in us.
