Lou was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Canton and a Texas Master Gardener and Composter. During her working career, she worked for Red Head Sporting Goods, Terrell State Hospital and the VZ County Tax Office. She and her husband owned and operated Free State Small Engines and helped establish and operate the Reclamation Station to help disabled and handicapped people as well as low income families. She worked tirelessly with special needs adults and volunteered with the Crisis Center. In 2007 she was the Van Zandt County Woman of the Year.
Mrs. Bliss is preceded in death by her son, Alec Gene Bliss; sister, Marcia Standerfer; and her brother, Duane Lee.
Lou is survived by her husband, Albert Bliss; son and daughter-in-law, Eric and Julie Bliss; two grandchildren: Crystal Dawn Vega and husband, David, and Chad Wayne Bliss and wife, Abby; great-granddaughter, Maya Faith Vega; great-grandson, Brody Alec Bliss; and two sisters: Freeda Steyer and Marillyn King.
