Loyal Edwin Teel, 92, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2022 in Grand Saline, Texas. Mr. Teel was born June 25, 1929 in Canton, Texas, to Archie and Trudy Teel. While his mother would call him “Loyal Edwin”, when the teacher asked his name on the first day of school, he said “Bill”. He has been known as Bill Teel ever since.
Mr. Teel grew up in the Teel Community west of Canton and attended Canton High School, where he was quarterback of the football team. He graduated in 1947. He married his beloved, Katherine Clemments of Myrtle Springs, Texas, on November 5, 1949. The couple were married 58 years at the time of Katherine’s passing. They had two sons and a daughter.
Mr. Teel’s career was as a sheet metal mechanic and Superintendent with Ace Furnace Heating and Air Conditioning in Dallas. His hobby was building, and over the years he built or renovated several houses. He was such a proficient builder, the water company told him to slow down, he was outrunning the water supply!
Mr. Teel was a member of the Teel Church of Christ in Canton, Texas.
Bill is survived by son, Larry Teel and wife, Lisa of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Son, Mark Teel and wife, Theresa from Springfield, Missouri; Daughter, Kathy Moore and husband, Tom from Canton, Texas; niece, Vicki Lockwood and husband, Ralph of Canton, Texas; thirteen grandchildren, (Ashley McGuffy, Kelly Noble, Cameron Davis, Samantha Teel, Christian Teel, Harrison Teel, Mark Teel II, Jon Besherse, Amanda Watkins, Kevin Teel, Kristi Patterson, Abby Henderson, Katy Moore) and 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Katherine Teel; grandson, Barton Moore and sister, Eloise Emory.
Funeral services will be at Eubank Funeral Home, Canton, Texas at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 8, 2022. Tom Moore and Bro. David Bell officiating.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 7, 2022 at the funeral home.
Burial will be at High Cemetery.
