Keny (Kenneth) Wayne Hughes left this earth for his heavenly home, Saturday, April 29, 2017. He was 57 years old and lived in Canton, TX. Keny was born August 21, 1959 in Greenville, TX to Bobby D. Hughes and Gloria Jean Boyd. He grew up in Charleston, TX and was a member of East Delta Baptist Church. He attended Cooper School where he met and later married his high school sweetheart Cheryl (Abston) Hughes. They married January 15, 1977 at First Baptist Church in Cooper, TX. Always true sweethearts, their marriage lasted 40 years, 3 months, and 14 days. They lived in Charleston, Cooper and Wills Point before settling on their farm outside of Canton. Their daughter Heather Rae was born on July 6, 1984. Keny worked for Morton Salt in Grand Saline, TX for the past 18 years. He was a very talented man and could do just about anything including building their home, and teaching himself to play the guitar. He had lots of interests such as hunting, camping, bicycle and motorcycle riding, listening to the blues and other music genres, reading, and going to the beach with his loved ones. Keny is survived by his wife, Cheryl; daughter and son-in-law, Heather Rae and Michael Pierce; and his two precious grandbabies Cooper and Emma Pierce all from Canton. He is also survived by his sister, Cindy McPherson and husband, Robert of Peerless; as well as half siblings: Don, Sandra, and Aaron Hughes. He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandparents, and half sibling, Tommy Hughes. Keny will be remembered in a memorial service Saturday, May 6, at 10:00 am at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton, TX. The family request in lieu of flowers memorial donations to be made to Oak Grove Baptist Church.
