Eubanks Funeral Home has scheduled services and burial at High Cemetery in Canton, Texas on Friday, December 4, 2020 at 2pm. Jeff Taylor of Rockwall, Texas officiating. The family will receive visitors between 1pm-2pm at High Cemetery Community Building on the property.
James was the son of Robert Lewis Watson & Audie Maybell Hughes Watson and born July 8, 1935 in Lamar County. James joined the US Navy in 1952. Two world tours later, he came home to Plainview, Texas to marry Jo Ann Parker, the love of his life. They moved to Dallas in 1957 and started a family. Angela Denise Watson was born July 8, 1957 (deceased) and Tonja Suzette Watson followed in 1959. Tyra Nan Watson was born in 1964. James moved the family to Canton to start a business in 1968. He owned and operated James Watson Hay-baling and Fencing for many years until retirement.
James was an avid bird hunter and a professional TV watcher. Go Cowboys if Tom Landry was still alive!! He enjoyed music, dancing and good cooking.
He was preceded in death by his parents; by his child, Angela Denise Watson; His brothers, LaDell Watson, Bural Dean Watson and Dewey Watson; sister, Nita Watson Brillon; sister in-law, Glenda Watson and brother in-law, Joe Brillon.
Survivors include his wife, Jo Ann Watson of whom he was married to for sixty-four years. Two daughters, Tonja Garten (spouse Jerry Garten) and Tyra Watson-Hawes (spouse Kevin Hawes). Grandchildren, Taylor and Mack McAllester and Brayden Little. Great-grandchildren, Carsyn Presley, Tripp Presley and Truett McAllester. Sister in-law, Peggy Watson. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Casket bearers will be: Ben Little, Joe D. Petty, Kevin Hawes, Mack McAllester, Doug Reid, and Gary Lide. Honorary bearers: Tripp Presley, Jerry Garten, Johnny Reid, David Reid and Allan Dawson.
