Lord received James into Heaven on June 5, 2024. He was born on October 12, 1923, in Easterly, Texas to the late James Ace Tyler and Myrtle Mary Tarver Tyler.
James lived a long and wonderful life. James married his beloved wife, Neoma Smith Tyler, in July of 1947. They had 62 beautiful years at her passing in 2009. James and Neoma moved to the Canton area in 1983. He was a long time member of the Assembly of God Church in Canton before moving to Cut and Shoot, Texas to be near family. James was active with Grace Crossing Church after moving.
James enlisted in the Navy as a young man and served in two wars – WWII and he reenlisted to serve in the Korean War. He was proud of his service to the country and to be part of the crew of the USS Prairie and USS Platte.
James was active in the Lion’s Club for many years. He retired from Southwestern Bell the day before it became AT&T. In his retirement years, he enjoyed fishing, working with his hands, and spending time with his family and grandchildren. James has seen many things in his 100 years, but what he is seeing now is beyond words.
He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Myrtle Tyler; beloved wife, Neoma Tyler; and son, James C. Tyler, Jr.
James is survived by daughter, Doris Golemon and her husband, Scott; grandsons: David Tyler and wife, Kathleen; Will Golemon and wife, Kristin; Robert Golemon and wife, Ashley; and Doran Golemon and wife, Katlyn; great grandchildren: Ryan Tyler, Lake Golemon, Lilly Golemon, Brantly Golemon, Jackson Golemon, Griffin Golemon, Matthew Golemon; nephew, Jody Tyler; a host of other family and friends.
