James "Jimmy" Rhodes

Jimmy passed away peacefully on November 21, 2023 in Irving, Texas. He was born on June 7, 1937 in Canton, Texas to Jesse Rhodes and Katy Mae (Driver) Rhodes.

Jimmy grew up in the Canton, Texas area and graduated from Canton High School. After high school Jimmy started what would be a 20-year career with the US Navy. After he retired as a Chief Petty Officer, Jimmy worked another 20 years in the Navy Shipyards as a civil service employee. Jimmy was married to his one true love, Frances Rhodes. The couple enjoyed a life living in North Carolina. Unfortunately, just before Jimmy retired from civil service, Frances passed away after a long battle with cancer. Jimmy then moved back to Canton, Texas.

Jimmy enjoyed a quiet and simple life. He enjoyed quiet time at home. Now and then he would meet up with friends at the VFW to catch up and talk about his days in the Navy.

Jimmy is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Frances Rhodes; mother, Katy Mae (Driver) Foster; father, Jesse Rhodes; daughter, Julie Kay Rhodes; sister, Mary Velma Ross; and brother, Wilson “Ray” Raiford.

He is survived by his son, Dale Rhodes; grandchildren, Michael McCormick and Julie Nicole Outlaw; three great grandchildren; and sisters, Tonda Hadley and Kitty Germany.

A visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 30, 2023 at the funeral home.

Interment will be at Haven of Memories Memorial Park Cemetery in Canton, Texas.
