James "Jim" Frank Driskill

A funeral service for James Frank Driskill, 83, of Fruitvale will be Friday, September 17, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Fruitvale Church of Christ, Fruitvale, TX., Carl McCann officiating. A graveside service will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Parker Cemetery, Grapevine, TX.

James “Jim” Frank Driskill passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on September 10, 2021. Jim lived with his wife, Joyce, of 63 years, and son, Stephen in Fruitvale, Texas.

Jim was born on November 13, 1937 to Frank and Leeta Driskill of Fruitvale, Texas. While in his high school years, Jim met his soulmate, Joyce and the two married on November 30, 1957. Jim was a faithful member of the Fruitvale Church of Christ for many years where he served as a deacon and elder. In the 70’s he was a part of an outreach for the Hispanic population in Fruitvale where one of the members went on to open a church in Tampico, Mexico. Beyond Jim’s love for Christ and his wife, Jim loved farming; specifically tomatoes, sweet potatoes, cucumbers, squash, greens, turnips, peppers, and watermelon.

Jim is survived by his children, Matt & Genene Driskill, Stephen Driskill, Susan & Ron Daley; 7 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Donald & wife, Betty Cox; sister, Carolyn Smith; brother, Larry Driskill; and numerous other family members.

Jim is preceded in death by his wife, Joyce; parents, Frank and Leeta Driskill; brother, Joe and sister-in-law, Mary Driskill; brother-in-law, Freddie Smith; and sister-in-law, Gayle Driskill.

A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 16,2021 at the funeral home.
